A Vienna Hand Painted Porcelain Plaque of a Young Girl by R. Dittrich

19th century
Description

A fine quality hand painted Vienna porcelain plaque by Rudolf Dittrich of a young girl entitled ‘Ausverkauft’ (Sold Out), circa 1880, an empty basket balanced humorously on her head with coins in her hands, signed R.Dittrich, the reverse marked within a cut window on the backing board with a Vienna ‘beehive’ mark, some pencil annotation and the title ‘Ausverkauft’, mounted in original 19th century gilt gesso frame.

N.B. R. Dittrich worked as a porcelain painter in Vienna. The backboard has not been removed but someone has broken off a small piece of the board to search for other marks, however, there is no doubting the origins of this plaque. The plaque is in excellent condition, the frame has the usual wear and chips commensurate with a gesso frame of this age.

42cm x 36cm including frame (25cm x 18cm excluding frame).
