A truly superb and unusual silver cigarette/ match striker box. This box is a gorgeous plain polished silver with a bamboo style silver edge to the lid. It stands on four feet. The lid is hinged at the back and opens to reveal a lovely cedar wood compartment to the interior. The underside of the lid is a lovely pale gilt finish where a secret love message is engraved, which reads: ''I offer thee a heart No Longer Mine Since that its ev''ry part Is wholly thine''On the back of the box is a match striker (see images). Very clear hallmarks are visible to one side of the box on both lid and base for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1908 and maker''s mark for the renowned silversmiths: Goldsmiths ...
