Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

John Speed published a landmark atlas titled The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine between 1611 and 1612. His maps are distinctive for featuring administrative hundreds, heraldic shields, and architectural inset views of prominent palaces or towns.

Maps from this era were printed via copperplate engraving onto handmade rag paper. Colour details were subsequently applied by hand using watercolour washes or gouache highlights.

Original folio printings typically display a central vertical fold, visible impression lines from the copper plate around the border, and English text printed on the reverse side. The rag paper texture lacks the uniform wood-pulp composition of modern papers.

Framed cartographic prints function as focal points when mounted above a sideboard, writing desk, or along a hallway gallery wall. Grouping regional maps together creates a structured focal display in classical or dark academia interior schemes.

To prevent fading and foxing, display the map behind UV-filtering glass and use acid-free mounting board. Ensure the frame is situated away from direct sunlight, radiators, and areas with fluctuating humidity.
