Victorian Sea Coast Stick Barometer

Description

An impressive 'Sea Coast' English stick barometer. A golden oak case with chamfered case sides and a moulded plinth to the cistern cover. An arched pediment with enamel dials showing weather predictions. Twin vernier scale slide adjusters and set knobs beneath. A thermometer with a nicely moulded case with bevelled glass. Circa 1860.

Sea coast barometers were often seen in the Victorian period in glass cases at seaside resorts and fishing villages in the U.K. Some have survived and can still be seen in coastal regions.
