Victorian Oak Extending Dining Table & 3 Leaves, 10ft/seats 12

£2,700    $3,460    €3,261
An attractive mid Victorian wind-out extending dining table in quarter-sawn oak and dating to c.1870. With a rectangular top with rounded corners and a moulded edge it stands on four Arts & Crafts style ring-turned tapering legs with brass caps and brown pottery castors. This super 4ft 2in wide table smoothly extends from just under 5ft to 10ft using a Joseph Fitter ‘screw expander’ winding mechanism and strong mahogany runners allowing it to comfortably seat up to 12 people if using all three leaves.

With a good deep golden colour it has been recently polished and waxed by hand using traditional materials. Medullary rays from the quarter-sawn cut of the oak produce the attractive golden ‘tiger grain’ pattern.
