Oil Painting Of The Witham By Thomas George Storey (1865-1935)

A fine oil on canvas depicting boats on the Witham by Thomas George Storey. The painting is beautifully done in thick impasto oils, in a very impressionistic manner. The painting retains the original gallery labels on the reverse indicating that it is an exhibited work and would date to C.1920. It has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. The gilt frame is not the original but is from the same period, it does have a modern slip. The whole is in excellent condition and the work is ready to hang.
 
Thomas George Storey was born in Bicker, Lincolnshire in 1865 and studied at the Lincoln School of Art c.1885. He is a noted painter of Lincolnshire landscapes and oils paintings by him are in the collection of the Usher Gallery, Lincoln. He did exhibited further afield including at the Royal Academy.
