A very handsome example of an expanding book rack or holder, known as a bookslide and dating to around 1860 / 1880, Victorian in era.

This set has particularly decorative brass mounts to each end, engraved to enhance their appeal.

The opening for books measures 14" expanding to 21" while fully opened.

Excellent condition, measuring 14" x 6".
