Charming Antique English Tortoise Shell & Sterling Silver Letter Clip

Description

Pretty as a picture, this is a stunner of a desk-top accessory made from a gorgeous piece of antique tortoiseshell with beautiful markings and colours ranging from golden Champagne to rich chocolate brown.

The shell is mounted at the bottom with a large hinged sterling silver clip in the form of a sumptuous ribbon and bow, this would keep the letters, business cards or the like in place.

To the top is the most adorable mount surrounding a central cartouche which could be engraved if desired. To the top is a wonderful cherub or putti figure and to the right a pair of doves.

Both the clip and mount bear matching hallmarks for London 1895 together with the makers mark for Henry John & Albert Edward Batson.

The clip stands on a folding easel back, there is also ring fro wall-hanging.

Wonderful condition and measuring 6 3/4" x 4".
