Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1870s.
All are present and each is numbered and set within an individual segmented container.

The last drawer contains the original printed book by James Tennant (dated 1858) which lists the thousands of mineral and fossil specimens that formed the private collection amassed during his lifetime, together with a handwritten section listing further examples, and including many hundreds of engraved illustrations.

Those that are present in this wonderful cabinet are notated by him in this book. Also included in this lower drawer are original detailed labels; lecture notes and various other papers, one with a printed date of 1866.

Difficult to photograph effectively, the attached images include some that show the contents of each individual drawer in the order from the top that they are displayed behind the panelled front door. This remarkable and very rare cabinet is in wonderful, original and complete condition. Complete with working key. English circa 1870
