Description

This spindle-bag has an indigo-blue plain-weave structure, with the borders, flowers and birds depicted in the field, woven in soumak technique. The back of the bag has an all-over pattern of family-unity symbols in the same technique. The bag was woven by Afshar nomads in Kerman Province during the last quarter of the 19th century and, bar some minor wear in both lower bottom corners, it is in very good condition. I have inserted two antique wooden drop-spindles in the bag and I will include these in the price.
