Francisque Joseph Duret born 1805 died 1864
 
He was the son and student of French sculptor francois joseph Duret 1732-1816
 
Francisque is a French sculptor who collaborated with architect Gabriel Davoid and the two designed and built the fontaine saint michel, Place St Michel in Paris the sculpturetook two years to build and place insitu 1858-1860.
 
Francisque also designed for Tiffany and company.
 
This large and impressive sculpture of two greyhounds in full flight, is a totally stunning interior design statement piece.
 
The silvered Bronze has an aged patina and the movement throughout the body of the hounds is quite captivating.
 
The sculpture is mounted on a solid wooden plinth, it is clearly signed and bears the insignia of the Medaille D''Or.
 
Francisque was awarded the medaille d''or for these chasing hounds and his name is joined by other sculptors names synonymous with exceptional quality and luxurious bronzes such as Eduard Drouot and Auguste Moreau.
