A very appealing pair of early nineteenth century aquatints depicting a little girl and boy. Titled "The Farther's Darling" and "The Mother's Hope". Full length portraits of a sweet young girl and little boy standing in picturesque rustic settings with titles beneath. Beautifully hand coloured aquatints with stipple on a wove paper. Engraved by Samuel Freeman (1773-1857) and Joseph Constantine Stadler ( Active London 1780-1822) after a painting by the famous portraitist and watercolorist Adam Buck (1759-1833). An Irishman from Cork, Buck was an enthusiastic devotee of the neo-classical style and famous for his depictions of idealised mothers and children in the classical taste. Title and publication details below image: Buck del. / Freeman & Stadler sculpt. / Published Nov. 1st 1807 by William Holland No.11 Cockspur Street London. Within beautiful period ogee maple wood veneered frames with gilt sight edge. There is a small amount of bruising to the veneer (Please see detail photos). The prints are in first class condition.
