Rare Late 19th/20th century superb silver plated chamberstick with original detachable snuffer and sconce by famed makers HUKIN AND HEATH!
A rare and highly collectable silver plate chamberstick in the aesthetic form by famous luxury goods makers Hukin and Heath, the company where Christopher Dresser was the artistic advisor.
Jonathan Wilson Hukin and John Thomas Heath were known under Dresser's direction for providing goods for the Victorian family table and into the early 1900s, having stylised shapes and distinctive designs, which appealed to the fashion-conscious public. Many were inspired by Japanese designs.
With an all-over dimpled bark effect to the surface, shaped top and bottom edges, and lid with delightful leaf thumbpiece, this is a lovely, rare and heavy example, which may possibly have been designed by Dresser. Pattern number to base 7936.
