Description

This extremely rare Spirit barrel with stylised stoppers and taps,

the base with pierced supports cast with addorsed swans flanking a neo-classical vase joined by a turned and double-baluster stretcher

22cm. high, 14.5cm. wide, 20cm. deep; 8½in., 5¾in., 7¾in.

The detachable, barrel-shaped dispenser is hob nail cut with

geometric patterns and has two ormolu bronze fitting in the centre.

The condition is very good well cherished.

Free world wide fully insured delivery with this piece.

Originating in France during the reign of King Charles X (18241830), these decorative glass barrels served as containers for spirits, liqueurs, or perfumes. They were typically designed as tabletop display pieces featuring heavy cut crystal and gilt bronze mounts.

These items were crafted from lead crystal or thick cut glass mounted with gilt bronze (ormolu). The supporting structures were often weighted with marble or crystal bases and featured cast brass or bronze taps and decorative supports.
