This charming Cloisonne vase dates from the late-Japanese-Meiji period circa 1910. The vase shows red-capped cranes as they fly through the clouds on a vibrant yellow background. The unusual design is almost Deco in appearance and with the familiar Ando mark on the base, this is a very collectable piece.
Around the turn of the twentieth century and following the Paris Exposition Universelle, Cloisonne became very popular with Japanese work in particular becoming sought after in the West.
At Kevin Page Oriental Art, we have a range of Cloisonne ware ranging in size from smaller pieces such as this, through to vases 6ft in height.
