Description

A superb quality French figured mahogany secretaire à abattant. The original black and white speckled marble top above the brass mounted frieze drawer. Below, the fall opens to reveal a well fitted interior consisting of 4 small drawers, a deeper drawer and 1 long drawer all retaining the original ornate brass handles, there is a large open shelf which could house small books. The fall also retains the original velvet writing surface and double brass lock with key. The 3 lower drawers all having brass mounts, ornate handles and escutcheons. The drawers are all oak lined with dovetail joints and have working locks and key. The stiles and lower frieze all have cast brass embellishments and the whole secretaire is raised on square block feet. Condition - very good, full cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
