In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco powder compacts were portable cosmetic containers produced predominantly during the 1920s and 1930s. They reflected the periods preference for geometric patterns, contrasting colours, and modern synthetic or enamelled materials.

Compacts from this era were typically constructed using base metals such as brass or nickel, frequently finished with enamel, gilding, or chrome plating. Synthetic early plastics like Bakelite and celluloid were also widely incorporated.

Authentic pieces generally feature period-appropriate hinge mechanisms, bevelled internal mirrors, and distinct geometric or stylized motifs. Stamped maker marks, specific patent numbers, and era-specific material weight further assist in identification.

Vintage compacts can be displayed on trinket trays, vanity tables, or inside glass cabinet displays. Pairing them with period vanity accessories or books creates an organized decorative arrangement.

Clean the exterior by dusting gently with a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid immersion in water, exposure to direct sunlight, or abrasive liquid polishes, as these can degrade surface enamel, lacquer finishes, and internal mirrors.
