Description

This stunning antique garnet and pearl ring features 12 natural flat foil-back garnets, which were very popular during the Georgian era and have a lovely glittering effect as they reflect the light. They surround a central rectangular garnet, framed by 12 tiny seed pearls. The gem-set face is mounted atop a nine-carat rosy gold shank with bifurcated shoulders.

The garnets are a deep wine red in colour, beautifully complemented by the lighter halo of pearls.

Size: O (UK), 7.5 (US). The face of the ring measures 1.5 x 1.3cm and it sits relatively flat to the finger, making it easy and comfortable to wear.

Weight: 2.9g.

Overall the ring is in good antique condition. The garnets have scarring and pits when seen under magnification but no chips or cracks. All but a couple of the pearls have sadly lost much of their nacre but they still offer a lovely contrast to the darker garnet stones.
