Antique Jaques Staunton Chess Set, Circa 1900

Description

A Staunton Boxwood & Ebony Chess Set by J. Jaques & Son, Ltd, circa 1900

both kings stamped JAQUES LONDON in red along the rim of the bases, the chessmen with green baizes to the undersides, in a box with a sliding lid and label: The Staunton Chessmen...(Howard Staunton's facsimile signature)...J. JAQUES & SON, LTD., LONDON, ENGLAND, and lined with plum coloured velvet.

King: 8.2cm (3 1/4 inches) high, 3.7cm diameter base.

Pawn: 4.2cm high, 2.6cm diameter.

Box: 15.5cm long, 12.5cm wide, 8cm high
