This is a George V hallmarked sterling silver hot water jug. It was assayed in Sheffield in 1924, and made by William Hutton & Sons Ltd. It was retailed by Rowell of Oxford.
It has a carved ebony handle and finial. The hot water jug is of baluster form, half gadrooned to the body and lid, raised on a circular footed base.
It is hallmarked to the side of the body and to the inside rim of the lid. The retailers mark is engreved on the underside of the foot.
It is engraved to the body below the spout ''E.G.J.H. & M.F.H. June 12th 1902-1927 From Mother''.
The hot water jug is generally in good order with wear commensurate with age.
The hot water jug has a gross weight of 510g / 16.41 oz t.
