Wonderful Meiji Japanese Bronze of Hotei .

1900 - 1920
Description

A wonderful quality bronze okimono depicting Hotei with his staff on his shoulder carrying his sack of wealth.

Hotei being one of the lucky Gods , is a reasonably common subject in Japanese sculpture , but this is an exceptional casting by a major artist .

The staff is removable .

Excellent condition and a wonderful colour.

Signed SHOUN , see Khalili Metalwork part 2 . Image 101 .

Measurements are WITHOUT stand , which of course is included.
