The anterior surface of each handle, excluding the table knives, is embellished with the contemporary engraved initial 'C'. Firth Stainless' to the stainless steel blades; one knife bears no maker's mark and has been crafted in the same size and style. This Old English pattern canteen of cutlery can be purchased with plain sterling silver handled Old English pattern knives if so desired, for further information please contact Andrew Campbell directly. This exceptional sterling silver English cutlery set is fitted to the original and impressive oak wood lift up lid and two drawer canteen box. The box is fitted with brass drawer and carrying handles in addition to an oval cartouche to the lid, embellished with the identical engraved initial 'C' as that to the handles. The lid and hinged drawer supports are inlayed with paralleling satin wood borders. The interior of this impressive presentation box bears a single inset panel to the rim displaying the maker/retailer's mark 'Fattorini & Sons Ltd, Bradford'. * "Straight" means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year. Condition This antique Old English pattern canteen of cutlery is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. There is some discolouration to the original composite handled knives, in keeping with age. The engraved initial to each dessert knife has wear, in keeping with age. The original carving set has wear to the blades and one handle bears a 1cm indentation; this does not affect the integrity or functionality of the set. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of the Old English cutlery set and anterior surface of the fish service and servers are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine and impressive canteen.
