18th century blue and white dutch delftware miniature stove decorated in typical Delft blue and white. The stove in square form with three painted sides displaying different figures amongst landscape scenes. To the top a pierced circular flower design for realising heat with separate holes to the four corners. The base beige in colour and unsigned. 
The full size stoves on which this is derived from were widely used for warming the feet across many households in the Netherlands. These small perforated boxes held a receptacle containing hot coals and were used to keep feet and legs warm during the long Dutch winters. Due to their huge popularity potters created miniature versions for decorative purposes and were prized gifts often given on special occasions.
Condition: Fair-Good, fretting and chipping to the edges. Age related wear.
