This wonderful 38 piece ANTIQUE BLUE & WHITE TRANSFER PRINTED DINNER SERVICE by RIDGWAY, in the HUMPHREY'S CLOCK PATTERN, dates from circa 1840.

The title 'HUMPHREY'S CLOCK' derives from Master Humphrey's Clock a proposed series of stories and sketches by Charles Dickens.

The SERVICE consists of:

10 Dinner Plates (Diameter 10 inches - 26 cm)

10 Soup Dishes (Diameter 10 inches - 26 cm)

3 Graduated Serving Platters and a Drainer (Largest Drainer Width 19 inches - 49 cm)

3 Tureens & Covers

2 Sauce Tureens with Stands, Covers and Ladles

W. Ridgway & Son operated from Hanley in the Staffordshire Potteries.

The overall condition is good. There are minor nicks and grazes. The only major faults are that one ladle has been reglued where the handle and the bowl meet and there is a thin, surface chip which has been reglued to the edge of the middle-sized Platter. There is no other restoration or any cracks.

This SERVICE displays beautifully.
