Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The inside shelves are adjustable top & bottom. There are square tapered Corinthian columns top & bottom with wonderfully carved capitals. The feet are also well carved & I like the way the bottom of the sides are cut out to allow for skirting boards, so allowing for the bookcase to sit closer to the wall. The top cornice has a prominent inverted breakfront shape with more carving. Please enlarge all the images to see all the amazing features, especially the prominent bottom door panels & the columns. The top & bottom cupboards have working lock. The mahogany grain is magnificent all over & this bookcase comes apart into two sections.
