Description

An early Victorian mercury wheel barometer. A mahogany case with a swan neck pediment and original brass finial. Banded case edging and a tapered base. Well silvered dials an a convex mirror. The level is engraved 'Grassi & Fontana, Exeter'. Circa 1840.

Grassi & Fontana of Exeter are recorded in Banfields 'Barometer Makers and Retailers' book as working from 1815.
