Description

This is a fine antique Georgian sterling silver basting spoon made by Hester Bateman and hallmarked in London 1777.
A substantial spoon it has been made with a heavy gauge of silver and is in very good condition. Of Old English pattern it has a scrolled initial to the handle. Hallmarks are elongated with the makers marks and letter "b" clear and the others readable.
Hester Bateman was the matriarch of the famous Bateman family of silversmiths and is highly collectible.
