A fine oil on canvas painting of a rough collie called ''Teddy'' by Julia Duperier. The painting is a classic head portrait of a dog looking to one side and beautifully captures his character and coat. The painting is signed by monogram but also retains all the information about the artist and the dog on the reverse as the work was exhibited at the East Sussex Ats Club annual exhibition. I can find no information on Miss Julia Duperier and this is most likely because she married and then worked under another name. The painting is not dated but would date to c.1900. The work has been cleaned and had some slight professional restoration particularly to the background. The frame is the original and in good untouched condition. A fine and charming example of animal portraiture in ready to hang condition.
