~~ Excellent condition ~~
A very beautiful original antique French portico clock set.
The top is surmounted by a marble 'urn of plenty' with ormolu fruit and flowers and columns have classical flaming finials and very finely chased floral swags and ribbons. The candelabra feature winged cherubs holding aloft baskets with rose stems forming the candelabra arms. These are naturalistically modelled with an asymmetric arrangement of rose buds and leaves, one candelabra has 3 lights and the other has 4. The clock movement is mounted in the upper part of the portico, allowing the pendulum, modelled in ormolu as a basket of flowers, to be seen gently swinging between the four columns.

The pretty dial is enamel on copper decorated with delicate floral swags and is complete with original finely fretted gilt brass hands. The rear door is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen.
The French movement is by Vincenti et Cie and has the clockmakers mark on the movement backplate. It is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright original finish to the ormolu. The marble is also very good, there are a few nibbles to the edges and some surface marks and discolouration. The marble urn on the clock has an small old repair at the rear, partially hidden by the ormolu mount. One candelabra bas has a small hole in the marble, probably originally in the raw stone. The dial is in very good condition, just some light scratching and slight chipping around the winding holes and the Brocot shaft.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
