In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The box is fitted inside with a mixture of bottles and pots. There are 3 glass pots with star cut bases and silver plated lids, there is another cut glass bottle with ground glass stopper and a further brass topped bottle. There are sections covered with tooled leather lids and the main interior of the box lifts out to reveal further storage space beneath to sore items such as brushes or combs.
The lid of the box is lined with a plush green leather with gold tooled detail which folds down to reveal a fitted mirror behind.
It is in excellent condition for its age and has been very well made and well looked after. There are some general signs of age and use around the box but nothing detrimental and overall the piece displays beautifully. Some of the silver plated lids have small dents and dinks in them and there are some small nibbles around the tops of the bottles but nothing detrimental.
The box comes with its original key and lock which is in working order. The box has been lightly cleaned and the silver bottles polished and it is ready for use.
