Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A verge escapement wall clock utilises one of the earliest mechanical clockwork mechanisms, featuring a vertical spindle with pallets that engage with a crown wheel to regulate timekeeping. Popular during the 17th and 18th centuries, these timepieces represent foundational developments in horological history.

Eighteenth-century English wall clocks were typically constructed with silvered or brass engraved dials, steel clock hands, and internal brass gears. Cases were fashioned from dense woods such as mahogany or walnut, often fitted with protective glass covers.

Authentic Georgian verge wall clocks often feature hand-engraved silvered brass dials, Roman numerals with outer Arabic minute divisions, ornate blued steel hands, and maker signatures from recognised clockmakers. Inspecting the internal movement reveals a crown wheel escapement and fusee arrangement.

An antique wall clock works well as a focal point in an entryway, above a fireplace mantelpiece, or positioned on a library feature wall. Complementing the dark casing and metallic dial with muted paint palettes and classical wooden furnishings balances traditional character with modern aesthetics.

Keep the clock away from direct heat sources, excessive moisture, and fluctuating temperatures to prevent damage to the mechanism and casing. Dust the glass and frame gently with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh liquid cleaners on the silvered dial or metal components.
