Description

A cabochon of natural coral hand carved with a tiny cameo portrait and set into a very pretty solid gold ring with decorative split shank. It's almost better from the side view than the front! The coral is a deep salmon colour while the gold (unhallmarked but tested minimum nine carat) is a subtle coppery rose gold.

Likely Victorian though possibly even earlier, the ring definitely has a Georgian look.

In very nice antique condition. The coral face is worn, as you would expect in such an old piece, but there are no chips or cracks and the gold setting shows few signs of wear with the carving still lovely and crisp.

Size: M (UK), 6 (US), a medium size. The coral measures 12 x 9mm and the top of the ring sits around 7mm above the finger. The shank is 2mm wide at the back.

Weight: 3.0g.
