Edwardian 15ct Gold Turquoise, Pearl, Ruby Insect Brooch

Description

A super solid gold brooch crafted as an insect with turquoise thorax, seed pearl-studded wings and abdomen and glittering ruby eyes. Dating from c.1910.

Fifteen-carat gold pieces are not overly common (in the UK only really used between 1854 and 1932) and as this fineness was generally used in high quality pieces, it is attractive to collectors.

In excellent antique condition, with fully working clasp.

Marked 15CT on the back of each wing.
