Description

This beautiful American silver plated pitcher has a wonderful Aesthetic Japanesque design with birds, spiders, dragonfly and flowers. The dragonfly has a gold wash highlight.

This jug which has an everted spout and a textured background dates from c1870, is by Meriden Company and is very much in the style of Aesthetic silver by Tiffany and Gorham.

Similar pieces to this can be found in the Brooklyn Museum.

Marks. Base marked with MERIDEN B CO TRADEMARK SCALES MERIDEN BRITANNIA QUADRUPLE MERIDEN CT 393

Condition: Excellent used antique condition with only light signs of use in keeping with age. Silver plate is in good condition with only a little wear the the handle and some light surface scratches. The inside is very clean with a few spots/marks.
