Description

Delightful little 17th.c. oak six plank chest or coffer c.1650. Just 36" wide, good height to use as a box seat in a hallway perhaps. Made from six solid oak boards with a simple moulded detail to the front and rear of the lid and chip carved edges repeated on the front board. Typical of the form the sides are cut away at the base to make feet. Nice old iron lock plate, and later strap hinges. Some obvious old wear but generally good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
