Description

This is a rather special Victorian Claret Jug, perfect for Water too.

Each panel is concave with a "dimple" all four sides. The panels are hand-cut and diagonal sections copper-wheel engraved with Aesthetic movement floral and foliate panels, all four sides are different.#

Th hinged lid, collar and handle are silver plated and surprisingly unmarked as the quality of this piece is exceptional. It wasn't until I photographed the piece that I found an engraved English registration number on the underside, again a sign of unique quality; the registration number allows us to date the piece accurately to 1886.

A fine and unusual piece for the bar or dining table in excellent condition. The glass measures 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" ; spanning 6" handle to spout and standing 8 1/2" tall to top of lid finial. Excellent condition.
