Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The top is made from solid or sterling silver, the interior having been gilded. A good weight lid with a decorative swirled fluted design with a central oval cartouche to the very top.

The lid is hallmarked for London 1895, a true Victorian example; the makers mark G.H.J is also present for the silversmith for George Henry James.
Excellent undamaged condition, measuring 4 1/4" tall with the lid measuring 3" x 1 3/4".
