Late 19th.c. Carved Oak Settle C.1890.

Description

Small late 19th.c. carved oak settle or hall bench c.1890. Sturdy little bench, just 40" wide, in solid oak throughout. Carved backrest with a flat top rail over three baluster silhouette splats. Shaped arms carved on the tops and the front of the supports. Single piece board seat (depth 12½”) with moulded edge over a nicely shaped apron also carved to match. Raised on turned front legs, the rear legs swept slightly backwards for extra stability. Sold together with a loose seat pad upholstered in red velvet with piped edges (some old marks on both sides). Excellent original colour and condition, simply cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
