Rare Silver Miniature Taperstick /candlestick Birmingham 1844

An exquisite and rare early Victorian, solid silver miniature Taperstick. The design is unusual with a sconce at the top of a neat column. To one side of the column is a handle for holding, and the other side holds the detachable snuffer. It stands on one foot. The attractive engraving covers the whole of the taperstick.
 
Hallmarks are visible on the stand (see images) and also on the Snuffer for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1844 and Lion Passant. The maker''s mark is also visible for Joseph Willmore.
 
 
 
An exceptional Taperstick due to its rarity and shape.
 
 
 
Condition: In lovely antique condition (there wavy edge around the top of the sconce is very slightly misshappen which we mention for accuracy).
 
 
 
Hallmarks: Birmingham 1844 by Joseph Willmore.
