George V Silver Mesh Evening Bag by Henry Williamson, Imports Marks for Birmingham 1916

Description

This is a truly fabulous continental silver chain-mail cocktail bag bearing imports marks for Birmingham 1916. The fully hallmarked silver frame exquisitely pierced and engraved with flamingoes within foliate scrolls. The sides fitted a hallmarked silver belcher chain. The centre with a silver ball clasp.

Both sides of the frame are separately hallmarked.

Hallmarks:

H.W.LD for Henry Williamson.

925 silver fineness.

Birmingham import mark.

Date letter "r" for 1916.

Condition:

Very good condition.

Dimensions and weight:

Length (excluding the chain) : 14cm / 6 inches.

Width: 14cm / 5.2 inches.

Weight: 148g / 5 1/4 oz.
