Description

A lovely set of large antique letter scales with their original weights dating from the early 20th Century. The scales themselves are brass and they are set on a good quality shaped wooden base. The brass weighing arm is stamped "Warranted Accurate" and there is a faded plaque on the base for Inland Letter Rates.

The scales come with a complete set of seven brass weights weighing 1lb, 8oz, 4oz, 2oz, 1oz, 1/2oz and 1/2oz.

The set is in good original condition. They have been lightly cleaned and polished to retain their natural patina and aged look. The brass has tarnished with age and there are some small knocks and scuffs around the base but no major damages and they display very nicely. The scales appear to work as they should do but I have not tested them for accuracy and they are really being sold as a decorative item rather than an accurate scientific set of scales.
