Victorian Silver Gilt Chain Link Wide Bracelet

Status: This item has been sold

Description

A gorgeous and eye-catching bracelet from the Victorian period, dated May 1879. The bracelet is made from silver, which has been gilded to give it a lovely bright gold appearance. There is a kitemark to the back of the clasp; these were used between 1842 and 1883 as a design registration mark and are similar to a patent mark. In this particular example, some of the marks have worn over time, but the month letter to the bottom and the year letter to the right are visible and give us an accurate date for this beautiful piece. The bracelet makes a lovely statement with its chunky links and excellent pointed fringe. It has a slide clasp that stays in place when worn and a safety chain for extra security. A lovely look without the heavy price tag that solid gold would produce.
