Description

Splendid late 19th.c. carved oak pedestal desk c.1890. Desk top with a red leather writing surface and carved edge over three drawers and raised on twin pedestals with three drawers to each. Superb drawer fronts with handles carved as a splendidly moustachioed Green Man (an ancient mythical figure popularised by Gothic Revival and Arts & Crafts designers in the 19th. century) against scrolling foliage. Carved detail to the uprights and the moulding around the plinth. Panelled sides and rear, polished all round. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied for the centre drawer.
