These three jars and covers (originally blue and white) date from around 1700 and are very attractive with red, gold, pink, yellow and green decoration on top of the under-glaze. They are in good condition with a small chip to the lid of one. (Full photographs or a viewing can be arranged).
The jars date from the reign of Emperor Kang Hsi. (1661 - 1772)
The term "clobbered" or "clobber ware" derives from Chinese export porcelain that has had its original blue and white under glaze added to in Europe at a later date with coloured enamel decoration.
Kevin Page opened his first gallery in the world-renowned Camden Passage (Islington, London) in 1968 and has since gone on to become one of the leading and most-respected dealers of Chinese and Japanese fine art and antiques in the United Kingdom.
