Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Folding leather games boards were popular in nineteenth and early twentieth-century Britain, designed for portability and compact storage while imitating bound books or slim cases when closed. These items served both functional entertainment and decorative purposes in domestic interiors.

These boards were typically constructed using a rigid cardboard or timber core covered in tool-embossed calfskin or morocco leather. The playing squares and decorative borders were frequently highlighted with gilt tooling or blind-stamping.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-tooled gilt embellishments, natural wear along the central fold hinge, and historical edge tooling techniques. Original fabric or leather lining along the central joint and age-appropriate surface patination also indicate age.

A leather games board can be displayed flat on a coffee table, console table, or library desk to add texture and historical interest. Alternatively, leaning the folded or open board against a bookshelf backdrop creates a layered vignette.

Dust the surface gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid direct sunlight or heat sources that dry out the leather. Specially formulated leather conditioners can be applied sparingly to maintain flexibility, avoiding the gilt tooling to prevent flaking.
