A George III mahogany and ivory mounted stick barometer by Peter Dolland, the top with a swan neck pediment with central Neoclassical urn finial, above a bow fronted glass section with silvered metal register plate, to contain a thermometer and vernier indicators for the barometer with mercury tube, signed Dolland London, the flame mahogany trunk with ivory adjustment knob, the base with ebonised urn form cistern cover flanked by canted corners, 1030mm high, 120mm wide and 70mm deep. Circa 1810.
Note: Peter Dolland, 1730-1820, was listed in the 1763 as Optician to his Majesty and the Duke of York and sole maker of refracting telescopes invented by the late Mr. John Dollond who obtained his Majesty''s Royal letters Patent for the said invention.''
