A beautiful mahogany Regency Period secretaire bookcase probably by Gillows Of Lancaster. Having an upper bookcase section with a dentil moulded cornice with a flamed mahogany frieze, above twin astragal glazed doors, which open to reveal a central division with eight oak shelves, six of them adjustable. The lower secretaire section has a figured mahogany polished top above a fall front double drawer secretaire enclosing a satinwood and baize lined fitted interior with a further three rectangular oak lined drawers with turned mahogany drawer pulls and standing on slender "Gillows" bracket feet with quarter cluster columns with fine ebony and boxwood inlaid detail to the columns. Having solid mahogany sides, in wonderful condition, a wonderful colour and patination. English circa 1800-1820
