A superb Victorian solid silver Christening Mug. This exquisite Mug has a lovely plain polished silver body, and the shape is slightly splayed at the top. The lower part of the Mug are beautifully decorated with embossed and protruding arcanthus leaves. The neat looped handle is also decorated with leaves.
Very clear hallmarks are visible next to the handle for the Sheffield Assay Office with a date mark for 1899 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. The maker''s mark is also clearly visible for the renowned silversmiths: Walker & Hall.
The base is stamped ''Walker & hall, Sheffield, England'' with the number 53766 and the Walker & hall logo.
An extremely attractive Mug in super antique condition. Very tactile, feels nice when picked up by the handle.
