Victorian Miniature Apprentice Mahogany Chest of Drawers

19th century
Description

A superb miniature mahogany chest of drawers, dating from the mid 19th Century. It is a charming piece with five graduating drawers, each with turned wooden knobs. The bottom two drawers also have locks. The chest itself is made from mahogany with a pine back and pine lined drawers. It stands on a traditional plinth base. It is very well made and each drawer is beautifully made with hand-cut dovetail joints.

It is in excellent original condition. The mahogany has a wonderful aged patina and the piece is sturdy and the joints are strong. The drawers are lined with an old white paper which has some old marks and stains but generally the drawers are clean and tidy and all open smoothly. There is an old key which locks the bottom drawer although it is a bit stiff. There are some general signs of age and use and minor marks and light knocks but nothing detrimental and overall it displays very well.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions or would like to know any additional measurements please ask. UK Delivery £10.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
