Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The show side is decorated with carving/moulding to the bed posts, the other side is flat as the bed was made stand against a wall. This bed would make a great large single bed or would look fantastic piled up with comfy cushions and used as a day bed.
This bed will take a deep mattress and is a non-standard size – internally it measures 113cm (3 Feet 8 inches). Which means It would fit a large single (3Ft6) mattress with an inch gap either side for duvet/bed covers. A wide single bed is the same length as a standard UK 3ft single bed, but 17cm wider, giving a slightly roomier sleep. These mattress are available from some larger mattress suppliers as well as some online mattress suppliers.
It comes supplied with a new set of wooden slats (mattress not included).
